Royal Air Maroc now also offering Oneworld Status Match, for a fee

With Royal Jordanian’s (RJ) region-specific status match still ongoing, the other Royal airline of Oneworld, Royal Air Maroc, has come up with its own offer. These status match opportunities have a few similarities as well as stark differences, especially in price.

RJ is matching to Oneworld Ruby at $49, or Oneworld Sapphire at $149. Status is valid for 12 months.

Royal Air Maroc grants status until June 30, 2024 which will be extended to year-end upon flying with them just once. They are also charging dearly for the opportunity: $150 for Ruby, $450 for Sapphire, and a qualified opportunity for those with Air Canada, Air France/KLM, Lufthansa or Turkish Airlines status: $1000 or $1500 for top-tier Oneworld Emerald status. That $1500 option comes with three business class upgrade vouchers.

Oneworld Emerald status can open the door to first class lounges when traveling on a member airline in any class

If you’re not in the right region (some countries in EMEA) to avail of RJ’s more generous status match, this one might be worth it to consider if you tend to fly Oneworld carriers. The usual perks, including American Admirals Club and Flagship Lounge access, even on domestic flights, apply.

A third party, statusmatch.com, has been hired here once again as in RJ’s case to process the applications. Royal Air Maroc offered a similar status match to a year of Oneworld Sapphire in 2022 for just €49. The price is now nearly tenfold. Hopefully this trend won’t continue in the same direction.

Eligible airlines for the status match include major Star Alliance and SkyTeam airlines, and a couple of independents. You can access Royal Air Maroc’s offer here.
